Today two good copies of the panels on show in Thurles were sent to us, now they can be seen without all the reflections in the windows!
The panels contain a selection of old images, photographs from gatherings over the past ten years, and ones taken of the mine sites and artefacts from the mines. All these images are available in the Tipperary Coalmines website, along with many more.
Enjoy looking at the images, and if you get into Croke Street Thurles before the clocks go back have a look at these panels and others about industrial and domestic heritage all exhibited in windows along the street.
Thank you to Breda Martley of the Croke Street Residents Association who visited the Old School in the Commons during the summer and choose a large collection of images. Special thanks to Sheila Hackett, Graphic Designer at Lion Print in Cashel for making the final selection of images and for her using her skills to design these wonderful panels celebrating our coal mining heritage.
